VON DUTCH Ts
Story Behind VON DUTCH
The "Von Dutch" brand story is one of artist
Kenneth "Von Dutch" Howard and the subsequent, often dramatic, commercialization of his name after his death. Howard was a mid-century artist known for his pinstriping and flame designs on hot rods, becoming a figure in the Kustom Kulture movement. Following his 1992 death, his name was licensed and eventually sold to different individuals, leading to the creation of the apparel brand by Robert Vaughn and Michael Cassell. The brand was then further popularized by designer Christian Audigier in the early 2000s.
